How many cassettes do you listen to?
I'd just get a Spotify account plus a great Bluetooth speaker.

Is a midi system the thing that has a dog sitting next to it?

You're not going to find a wi-fi hi-fi that has a cassette deck.
Go for a Denon CEOL RCDN9. Has CD, wi-fi, bluetooth, streaming, internet radio etc etc and phono inputs for a cassette deck. I have its predecessor the RCDN8, which is brilliant.

I'm really not sure about one with a cassette deck. Do they even make them now? After years of faffing around downsizing to keep others happy, I bought a Marantz MCR611 / Dali speakers with a TEAC TN300 deck last year and everything sounds like I'm hearing it for the first time again.
Can I suggest you go to Richer Sounds and ask them? They are top notch, really helpful and won't try to sell you something you don't want.

If you want all that Tom I think you'd better start looking in the bins behind the Science Museum.
Seriously though I read in the Hi-Fi press that Cassette sales are picking up because people (mistakenly) think they are the 'new vinyl'.
Personally I'd hoped we'd seen the end of recording onto rust, which is what cassettes are.

Just to let you know that the Marantz that BB recommends is pretty much the same machine as the Denon I suggested. Not surprising as the two companies merged some time back. Anyway, you'll find that for some reason the Denon's are usually cheaper.

Tom, I like you and always have but you are missing out on so much new technology like Minidisk and Lazer-disk.
Actually I think you are making a game of us. Nobody could have the moniker 'Tomshardware' and not know about technology. I'm guessing you've got a pretty good computer?

Chim, I really don't, thanks for all the advice though. The last time I bought a music system I went to Dixons.
